Bouwend Nederland provides a platform for construction and infrastructure companies to make an economic and socially responsible contribution towards optimal spatial planning and development in the Netherlands.
Organizational Structure
Bouwend Nederland has a General Council and a Steering Committee. The Steering Committee sets out the policy and is responsible for its implementation. The General Council is the highest body within the Federation. It assesses general policy and oversees the Steering Committee. The president is mr L.C. (Elco) Brinkman.
Regions, branches, sections and platforms
Bouwend Nederland has five regions, each with its own office and its own management committee: North region, East region, South region, Randstad North region, and Randstad South region. The regions are responsible for representing the members' interests in matters involving regional government and regional organisations. Regional representation has become increasingly important due to the continued process of government decentralisation. Drawing up regional policy and the exchange of knowledge in areas such as social affairs, labour relations, education, training, and the construction market, as well as representation on administrative bodies, are also important tasks of the regions.
There are more than 65 active branches throughout the country. The branches have their own management committee and are independent legal entities that fall under the organisational structure of Bouwend Nederland. They represent the interests of the members at a local level and share knowledge and information about practical business issues.
Bouwend Nederland has a number of Sections: the Drilling, Piping, and Cabling Section, the Earthworks Section, the Hydraulic Engineering Section, the Civil Concrete Construction Section, and the Specialised Road Construction Section. Each Section has its own management committee. Within the Sections, members can share branch-specific knowledge with each other. In addition, the Sections are also responsible for representing the member's interests in a particular branch at national level.
Platforms have been set up both regionally and nationally for the exchange of knowledge and information. These include the national platforms on operational management and the regional infrastructure platforms.
