Bouwend Nederland is affiliated to FIEC, the European Construction Industry Federation. Created in 1905, FIEC is the European Construction Industry Federation, representing via its 33 national Member Federations in 28 countries (26 EU & EFTA, Croatia and Turkey) construction enterprises of all sizes, i.e. small and medium-sized enterprises as well as “global players”, carrying out all forms of building and civil engineering activities.

IRF
Bouwend Nederland is affiliated to the International Road Federation (IRF) as well. The International Road Federation (IRF) is a nongovernmental, not-for-profit organization with the mission to encourage and promote development and maintenance of better, safer and more sustainable roads and road networks. Working together with its members and associates, the IRF promotes social and economic benefits that flow from well-planned and environmentally sound road transport networks. It helps put in place technological solutions and management practices that provide maximum economic and social returns from national road investments.

Export promotion and missions
For some time now, Bouwend Nederland has been informing construction companies about the growing commercial opportunities abroad. At present, both market developments and EU legislation aimed at creating a better-functioning internal market (Service and Posting Directives) are pushing Dutch and other European construction firms toward taking a more international approach. But a word of caution is in order. No construction company can just “parachute” into another country and expect to see instant success. Spreading your wings internationally will take a great deal of time and effort, including building up useful contacts at government and business levels, plus overcoming cultural and language hurdles. Bouwend Nederland has teamed up with Dutch government agencies and other partners to support the process of foreign expansion for Dutch construction companies.
